Leon McGraw will be rejoining other Software SIG leaders in a regular rotation. Thank You, Leon.

To increase our attendance at the General Meeting , it was decided that we should have a Q & A session before the meeting in Jan.,2001 at 6:30 PM.

Programs Report

Vice President of Programs, Mike Flanagan reported for the month of December , which is our Christmas Party, that our guest speaker would be from Microsoft and would speak on Windows ME. In January, 2001, Kevin Munson has lined up Lexmark to speak.

Communications Report

Vice President of Communications, Kevin O'Hearne reported we have two new advertisers for the PC News magazine. Wes Tech will advertise with a full page and Computer Troubleshooters will advertise with an half page advertisement. With the two new advertisers, our billings will go from $250 a month to $355 a month.

A motion was made by Kevin O'Hearne to pay the additional $30 charge for the 70 # paper weight of our magazine. It was seconded by Cheryl Floyed and passed with an all voice vote.

It was decided to run a NAM ad in the magazine, whenever we have some space, since they have been such good hosts to our club.

Missing Byte Computers needs to pay for their advertising in the magazine for Nov. and Dec.. It was decided to run the ad in January and if there is no payment , then the ad will be pulled from the February magazine.

It was decided to continue to run the "Free Trial Membership" coupon in the PC News magazine.

On the HalPC advertising issue, Mike Kelly said he would give them a call.

Fred Facker, a writer for the 1960 Sun, has been given an assignment to write an article about the 1960 PC Users Group. Fred has contacted different Board of Directors members to gather information. He has been given our web address and a copy of the PC News. We do not know when the article will be in the 1960 Sun.

Membership Report

Membership Chairperson, Linda Genaw reported the changes for November. Total members 205; Renewals due 11; Actual renewals 5; New members 0; and $275 was added to the Treasury.

General Meetings

Mike Kelly has volunteered to be the Greeter for our General Meetings and he'll be at the door at 6:30PM. Hopefully, we will have other members volunteer to Greet at other General Meetings. Kevin Munson will be assuming the General Meeting set-up duties. Mike Flanagan has been ever faithful to our club and has worn many hats for us. Now he is turning one of those hats over to Kevin Munson. Never , enough THANKS can go to our very active members that spend so much time making our club run so smoothly for all of us. (Someone will need to assist in the General Meeting set-up.) One thing to keep in mind is that the chairs aren't always set-up for the meeting. Jim Nowhirt is the NAM man that does the chairs, a call the day before may help.

Directors-at-Large

No reports at this time.

Old Business

Christmas Party: Mimi Smith will be in-charge of drinks and coffee. Pat McDonald has purchased some Christmas decorations to dress the the food and beverage tables. We will be at NAM at 5:30PM to prepare for the Christmas party. Everyone has been asked to bring a Christmas dessert for the food table.

Cheryl Floyed spent a little over $200 for 44 door prizes. Three of the prizes will have rebates. Cheryl gave a $69.56 check plus $45 worth of rebates back to our Treasurer from the $300 the Treasurer had issued to her. GOOD JOB, CHERYL.

Cheryl volunteered to continue purchasing door prizes for our club. She requested that the $300 be given to her earlier so she could take advantage of rebates and sales.

A motion was made by Kevin O'Hearne to issue Cheryl Floyed an advanced check for $300 as an "annual" budget for door prizes for the year 2001. The motion was seconded by Kevin Munson and passed with an all voice vote.

Kevin Munson will dress up like Santa Claus to pass out the Christmas Door prizes.

Computer Fair/Parade: Lynn McLeland is still calling NAM to secure the room for March 17, 2001 the Computer Fair. She has left messages but no return calls.

Mike Flanagan reported on the Parade and the float. Mike estimates the cost of the float and the Nerd candy to be about $3,000. We need sponsors to cover the all the costs. Since the float will be a giant Computer there be four spaces (2 spaces 6 ft. sq. and 2 spaces 5 ft. sq.) for sponsors. After discussion, it was decided to offer the local computer company, Compaq, first rights to advertising on our float. Then Mike Kelly will talk to Gateway and Kevin Munson will talk to Dell. We might need an additional advertiser and then we would look at a retailer, that way the two companies would not be in competition with one another. Mike Kelly offered to talk with Best Buy. A motion was made by Mike Flanagan to commit to $150 for the purchase of PVC piping for the construction of the float computer. No other monies will be spent on this project until we have sponsors. It is recognized that this money will not be recovered if we can't find sponsors. The motion was seconded by Kevin O'Hearne and passed with an all voice vote.

Mike Flanagan will purchase the PVC piping and will get reimbursed by the Treasurer, Bob Argo.

We do not have to pay the $100 entrance fee until the first of next year to Champions EMS. Since we can not pass out flyers or paper goods, Kevin O'Hearne recommended that we pass out plastic pocket protectors advertising the computer fair and perhaps our advertisers.

New Business

All Board of Directors Officers for the year 2001 were unanimously voted into office at the November General Meeting. There were 29 votes and there will be no recounts.

We would like to recognize one of our younger members, ALLISON FLANAGAN, a new writer for our PC NEWS magazine. Allison wrote an outstanding article (Looney Tunes Photo Fun) for the December, 2000 issue, in the Product Review column. GREAT JOB !

Motion to was made by Mike Flanagan to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 PM and seconded by Cheryl Floyed and passed with all voice vote.

Respectfully submitted,

Mimi Smith
