This is an invitation to all 1960 PCUG members to attend the monthly Board meeting, Tuesday, June 21, beginning at 7 p.m., in room 30 of the Annex Building. Board members welcome input, suggestions, ideas, or any other contributions for improving our organization. Hope to see you there.

Graphics

Thursday
Aug 18

Alex Dumestre

We will try to have more time to look at digital graphics editing (with PaintShop Pro - somewhat similar to the much more expensive Photoshop). We will be guided by questions from the attendees but, if that doesn't take up all of the time we will look into basic exposure correction, tint removal, cropping and geometric correction.

I hope to see you there.

Alex

Technology

Thursday
July 20

Sam Sanderson

Sam will be on vacation for the July 26th Technology SIG but David Gustine will be the leader. We will try to answer your technology questions. Other things we can talk about as time allows are:

  • How to configure Java updates
  • Battery information on your laptop
  • Windows 7's no-reformat, nondestructive reinstall
  • Google warning users of malware infection
  • An amazing video assembled
  • “The Johnny Cash Project”

At the Technology SIG we have discussions on a wide variety of subjects pertaining to all technology new and old and of course many topics surrounding all versions of the Microsoft Windows operating systems. The primary subject matter will be driven by the specific questions or request from the attendees. I will be bringing my new Apple iPad 2 and iPhone 4 to explore all the free apps available for them.

Sampling of topics include:

Laptops & PCs

WIFI Devices

Smart Phones

Plasma/LCD TV

Tablet PCs

Virus Utilities

Home Networking

MS Office Suite

Genealogy SIG: July 28, 2011
Subject: Gleanings from the Internet

In July we will be visiting some unique and interesting sites on the Internet. When researching, we often tend to visit the same web sites over and over again, so the purpose at this Genealogy SIG will be to encourage researchers to broaden their Internet searches to include places that they may not have considered in the past. Beginning and experienced researchers are welcome.

Our next bus trip is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4th. Check the genealogy web pages at www.1960pcug.org/gensig for gensig news and research helps.
